"I would like to give a special shout out to the folks at Obi's Barbeque. I was in town for the Homegoing service of my Mother, and this place was recommended to me by my cousin, Angie Burbank Southern, as she knows the owner personally. Being a former KCBS member myself, and having taken some judging classes, I'm a bit of a Que snob, self admittedly. When I went in, I was a bit skeptical (and I warned them). I must say, that I was more than pleasantly surprised at this wonderful restaurant. One of the best ways to tell if a place is serious about its BBQ is to see if you can smell the place before you go in, and if the place has a smoker. +2 on this one before we walk in.
Then, I was able to see the care taken into the atmosphere of the place. Both the servers were wonderful, everyone was so friendly. The food? It was beyond on point. I had Pulled Pork, Brisket, and Sausage, along with greens and Mac and Cheese. I always say you can tell how much a place like this cares about what they do by the quality of the side items. The mac and cheese was the BOMB, and the greens, were, as my cousin said, the best he'd had since our Grandmother's (no lie). The food was so good that we came back the next day with the entire family after the funeral. I spent almost $500 bucks at the place, and every dollar was well worth it. I hope to see the owner getting into competitions as he's got the skill and I think he'd do a great job getting himself out there. Love the place, and you will always have a fan here!"
